If it's a pocketbike, keep it in your fuckin' pocket!

I thought about not posting this nightmare picture, but the blogs name IS life and cars of Gustav_t, even when life sucks. Saturday morning my beloved type 34 was hit by a guy on a pitbike. I hold no grudge against the boy, who did what almost everybody else did in Mantorp - act stupid and inresponsible. I have once been a testosteron fueled young man, and acted stupid to. This is where the eventmakers should take action. What the hell has chinese mopeds to do with old beautifull Volkswagens? Please make some noise on the forums about this issue. And lets tell people that reckless driving between people and cars is not ok. But please don't thrash the mopeddriver on the forums.

I would like to thank all the people who donated cash for the cars recovery, the people who have send me text messages and e mails and those who have used time at work to sort out the rebuild of my dream car. To those who thought they could buy this car cheap from my insurance company - don't hold your breath while waiting..

I also has to say that keeping my good friend Guller in one piece even though he was sitting in the passengers site is the most important thing.

Hello Gustav,
all the best to you.
I did some motorcycle racing a few years ago and always hatet people who where going fast in the pits. If you are on a racetrack go fast at the track and not in the pits!!
I hope you build it up again.
Best regards, Martin (viennarazoredge)

I have no idea who people on pitbikes are trying to impress? I for one have a lot more respect for the guy sitting in a deck chair with a cold one after building a hot car over the winter. So what if you can pull a 30 meter wheelie? You should work in a circus, then. If you think driving around the corners on two wheels is cool, join the "Hell drivers" and die young..

I was gutted when I read this on another blog and especially upset when I saw it was your car after being a regular viewer of your blog.

Hope things work out, I know of a good front clip if you need one.

Hi Gustav,

saw your beautiful Ghia in Hannover - what a shame now! If you need parts, let me know (gasburner_at_hotmail.com), I have some spare parts for my owen Razor but you might need it more than me right now.
Take care,

Georg / DFL

Thanks for all the offers for parts. There are very few type 34´s in Denmark so parts are really scarce here. An old very skilled guy will try fixing the damage without parts. But if he needs some i will get back to you. Remember to enjoy your vintage vw today. Give her a oil change and a good run today, she might be gone tomorrow.

Gustav, I know how you feel since my type 34 was flooded two years ago. Now that I'm about to finish the restoration, I feel that the end result is worth every hour of work. And every penny spent. Just go for it, and rebuild it to its former glory. Good luck!!!

I remember seing your type 34 in the water and thinking oh no!! At that time I had another type 34 which needed a lot of work. I felt like giving you mine at the time. I sold it to finance this one. Now I enjoy my bus a little while waiting for the insurance company to bring the devil lady home. Where can I see your result?

Hello,

To Gustav,
This is what I call "no respect" for someones labour. One doesn't finisch such a lovely car in one month. I hope the biker had learned his lesson. To you I wish you much courage for the rebuild.
To Marc,
I remember your car very well. I was in Bern on the highway an hour before the storm. Awfull. Maybe we see the car back this summer in chateau d'oex?

Guys, you'll probably get a chance to see this car way before Château d'Oex... Hope to bring it to Chimay. EBI rules!! Gustav, if you need some headlight parts, I could bring you some to EBI, they could easily be rebuilt.

Sounds sweet. But i won't be at Bug In. I hope you'll have a good one though! My friend will be at Bad Camberg. Any luck that you're going there?

Gustav, I won't be at Bad Camberg. But some friends of mine are going and they could bring the parts to the event. It's a chrome headlight ring and the reflector.

Do you think its the same kind as the ones on my car? They are a bit strange, you know.

marc / lowtech said...

No idea, but many type 34 parts are a little bit strange. :-)
